Halo from Berlin!
I arrived Friday around noon and my brother and I checked into Soho House Berlin.
We’re in the midst of setting up his new apartment so I had the luxury of spending a couple of nights here with him.
Stepping into the room was like stepping back in time, from the old fashioned bathtub, to the record player and old radio playing classics in the corner of the room. The small details stole my heart immediately.
The hotel is in a restored Bauhaus building in the Mitte district. It was opened in 1928 as a department store but seized by the wartime government and occupied by the post-war, Communist regime until 1956.
Now it’s home to Soho House Berlin, founded in London as a private members club for those in film, media and creative industries. It’s since expanded across Europe and North America (they’re opening one in Toronto soon).
I was completely enamored by the the hotel, the thoughtful touches, the dreamy bed linens, the Cowshed spa, rooftop pool and the killer cocktails at the bar. I’ll be dreaming of my Bad Boy Gin and Tonic for years to come.
More importantly, I got to enjoy it with my brother. We’re a dangerous pair and it’s wonderful to be together again.
